ACLU Appoints Georgetown Prof to Head Up Legal Division

The American Civil Liberties Union has appointed Georgetown professor David Cole as its national legal director, according to an announcement from the organization on Thursday.

Cole, a law professor and well-known Supreme Court litigator, currently teaches constitutional law, national security, and criminal justice at Georgetown University Law Center.

In a post to the organization’s website , ACLU executive director David Romero cited Cole’s litigation experience and his authorship of “several seminal pieces in the area of criminal justice reform and race relations,” as primary reasons Cole is a good fit.
