AlixPartners Names GC from American Airlines

AlixPartners, the global advisory firm that focuses advising companies near bankruptcy, has hired a new general counsel: Kathryn Koorenny, Associate General Counsel of Litigation and Compliance at American Airlines.

Koorenny, 52, spent two decades at American Airlines and worked on its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, its merger with U.S. Airways, and defending the company against claims that it was negligent in letting hijackers board planes in the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center Towers.

Koorenny began working at AlixPartners in early June in New York. At AlixPartners, she will oversee a legal team of 24 members, including lawyers, paralegals and other professionals, Koorenny said. ...
