Axiom Global, an alternative legal services provider, announced on Thursday that it will enter the Canadian legal market by acquiring a majority of Cognition, a similar but smaller company based in Toronto.
Both companies help corporate legal departments fill out their staffing needs by providing attorneys who can work onsite or remotely.
As a result of the transaction, Axiom will acquire only the portion of Cognition’s business servicing companies that have in-house legal departments, which will be rebranded as Axiom Cognition.
