Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan announced Tuesday it plans to open a Shanghai office and has hired Sam Williamson, a former federal prosecutor with Mandarin fluency to head the office.
Williamson is currently a partner at Kirkland & Ellis International LLPand moved to Shanghai from Washington, D.C. in 2011.
“There aren’t too many — heck, there aren’t any other former federal prosecutors, I don’t think, with fluency that are based in China,” William Urquhart, a name partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, told Big Law Business. “That gives us a leg up if there’s competition.”
