BuckleySandler Hires Former Bank GC

BuckleySandler announced Monday that Heather Russell has joined the firm in New York to launch a new practice group.

Called Financial Institutions Regulation, Supervision & Technology (FIRST) practice group, Russell said she aims to provide banks, fintech companies and other financial institutions with enterprise-level legal solutions — drawing on her experience creating a policy and regulatory affairs office while chief regulatory counsel at BNY Mellon between 2011 and 2015. In part, the group will help smaller banks that don’t have the resources to build their own internal group, said Russell.
