Chadbourne & Parke has closed its Beijing office, meaning the New York-based international law firm is without any offices in Asia.
Its Beijing office had only one lawyer and opened around 2000, as The Lawyer first reported. A spokesman for Chadbourne said it closed in April, and that the firm no longer maintains a presence in Asia because it still can focus “on outbound work from China” without the expense of a Beijing office.
Still, few international law firms ever exit Asia, according to a study out of UC Berkeley published this summer in Law & Social Inquiry, a Journal of the American Bar Foundation, reported on here ...
