Exit Interview: Questions for Departing Top DOJ Lawyer on Antitrust

Arnold & Porter announced Wednesday that Bill Baer will return as a Washington, D.C.-based partner after a four-year hiatus during which time he rose to become the nation’s Acting Associate Attorney General, the number three position in the Department of Justice, in addition to serving as the department’s antitrust chief.

Baer declined to comment on any of the changes that have hit the DOJ in recent weeks — from President Trump’s termination of FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday to the change in priorities that the new Attorney General Jeff Sessions has outlined.

But he did predict that antitrust enforcement would persist.
