Hughes Hubbard Acknowledges Reductions in Kansas City

Hughes Hubbard & Reed confirmed Friday that it had indeed downsized its Kansas City office.

In a statement, a firm spokesman said:

“No partners were affected; a few attorneys were impacted, but the majority were non-lawyer litigation analysts. No layoffs are planned.”

The news was originally reported by Above the Law , which received a tip that Hughes Hubbard had laid off dozens of lawyers and staff as a result of excess overhead – information that the firm subsequently denied, saying that only “a handful” of people in Kansas City were affected.
