Is the Sun Rising or Setting on the Legal Profession?

This week, Bloomberg Markets released its fifth annual ranking of the 50 most influential people, and keen observers may already have taken note of a curious absence from the list: Practicing lawyers.

Although chock full of corporate executives and politicians, and even many law school graduates, the list is devoid of any superstar lawyers in the U.S., which marks a change from previous years. We here at Big Law Business wondered why? Does it signal a broader trend that lawyers’ influence is waning? Is the profession being overshadowed by other industries?
