Josh Block is the founding executive producer of Big Law Business. He was hired by Bloomberg BNA to launch and oversee the website in September of 2014. Block produces the site’s video, podcast, and multimedia content, and often edits and writes articles for it.
His videos for the website include a series with Rudy Giuliani, a series with author and former Boies, Schiller lawyer, Elizabeth Wurtzel, a profile of Jack Chen, a blind in-house lawyer at Google, and many interviews with law firm chairs and GCs of Fortune 500 companies. Block also hosts a podcast featuring legal journalists discussing top law firms in the news, and he created a video series featuring chairs of high ranking U.S. law firms interviewing each other.
Block began his career producing television interviews for Charlie Rose on PBS, including interviews with David Bowie, Julius Erving, Phil Jackson, Spike Lee, David Letterman, Wynton Marsalis, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Martin Scorsese. After that, he joined the staff of Late Show with David Letterman, where he prepared Mr. Letterman for his guest segments. Block has contributed to the Peabody Award-winning programs Studio 360 (PRI) and EGG the arts show (PBS). He profiled the improvisational comedy group and training center, Upright Citizens Brigade, for the former and the satirical news organization, The Onion, for the latter. He was also part of the production teams that launched award-winning television programs for HBO, PBS, and ESPN.
In 2005, Block left production to attend law school. Afterwards, he joined Bloomberg LP where he helped create and launch Bloomberg Law’s digital media programming, producing videos and hosting podcasts on legal topics including big law, the Supreme Court, intellectual property, and legal education.
Block received his B.A. in English from DePauw University and earned his law degree, cum laude, from New York Law School. He lives in New York with his wife and three children.
