Law Firm Taps Alaskan Leader as Next Managing Partner

Stoel Rives has appointed Anchorage-based James E. Torgerson as its firm-wide managing partner, replacing Bob Van Brocklin, who served for eight years in the role from Portland, Oregon, the law firm announced on Monday.

Torgerson, 57, said that he plans on carrying out a number of initiatives around improving the firm’s project management and pricing functions, as well as rolling out a knowledge management project in 2017.

He also said that he intends on expanding the Stoel Rives platform but wasn’t prepared to discuss specifics.
