Lawsuit Illustrates Risks of Switching Firms

Law firm partners beware: When you gear up to leave your firm, plot your steps carefully.

Allegations in a lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court on May 4, claim former partners of Adelson, Testan, Brundo, Novell & Jimenez wrongfully used firm resources while planning their new boutique.

“This is a classic, yet extreme, case of misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of fiduciary duty by former partners building a competing firm using their employers’ resources,” said the lawsuit filed by Daniel Callahan, an attorney representing Adelson, Testan.
