Lawyers for Pro Wrestlers Dodge Sanctions, Barely

Plaintiffs’ lawyers in pro wrestling concussion litigation narrowly escaped sanctions Nov. 16 from the federal judge overseeing the cases (McCullough v. World Wrestling Entm’t, Inc., 2016 BL 379568, D. Conn., No. 3:15-cv-001074 (VLB), 11/10/16).

Judge Vanessa L. Bryant catalogued the lawyers’ misdoings in harshly critical terms but ultimately decided against punishing them under Fed. R. Civ. P. 11, which allows sanctions for filings that are presented for an improper purpose or assert facts without evidentiary support.
