Legal Group Announces New Sustainability Standard

With Earth Day around the corner, law firms have a new tool to measure their environmental footprint.

This week, the Law Firm Sustainability Network, a non-profit founded in 2011, released the American Legal Industry Sustainability Standard, or ALISS: It sets benchmarks for law firms to evaluate how they measure up on recycling, resource conservation, energy efficiency and waste reduction.

About a dozen firms are using the tool on a pilot basis, and in May, the ALISS tool will become available to all 50 members of the LSFN.
