Manatt Looks Outside U.S., Adds Former African Development Bank GC

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips doesn’t have any offices outside the U.S., butthe firmis looking to expand its profile on international work.

As part of that effort, this week the firm announcedKalidou Gadio, a Mauritanian-born lawyer who spent 25 years at the African Development Bank, including eight as general counsel, will join to serve as co-chair of an Africa practice it first acquired when Douglas C. Boggs joined two years ago.

“It’s true the firm is more of a domestic firm, but it’s not exclusively so and that’s changing,” said Boggs, adding thatManatthas represented sovereign clients in Latin America andthatGadio will help it win similar clients in Africa. ...
