Manhattan DA: Internet is the 21st Century Crime Scene

New York County district attorney Cyrus Vance indulged in a bit of nostalgia on Thursday, reminiscing about his days as a young prosecutor in the 1980s, when “cybercrime” meant “stealing someone’s computer,” and a crime scene was the space inside of the yellow tape on a street corner.

These days, Vance said, “The internet is our 21st century crime scene.”

In a talk titled “Cybercrime: Crossing Borders and Sectors,” delivered at the second annual Big Law Business Summit Thursday morning in midtown Manhattan, Vance stressed the need for cooperation.
