Meet the Paul Weiss Partner Who Helped Free a Wrongly Convicted Man

There were a bevy of people on hand in the Brooklyn courtroom last week when prosecutors from the district attorney’s office admitted that Andre Hatchett, who had spent nearly 25 years in prison, did not commit the murder for which he’d been convicted.

Jim Brochin, of Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison, who helped represent Hatchett, will never forget the scene.

“From a purely selfish standpoint, it was really one of the highlights of my career to have stood in the courtroom during that emotional scene,” said Brochin. “I’ll be looking for that to happen again someday.”
