Obama Nominates Latham Partner to Federal Bench in D.C.

President Barack Obama has nominated a top partner at Latham & Watkins to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Abid Qureshi leads the firm’s pro bono practice and would be the first American Muslim to serve on the federal judiciary, according to Muslim Advocates, a legal advocacy and educational organization promoting civil rights.

“I am confident he will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice,” said Obama in a statement.
