Ohio Floats Fix to Let Lawyers Aid Medical Pot Industry

A proposed Ohio rule change announced Aug. 31 would make it okay for lawyers to assist clients in activities that are legal under Ohio’s new medical marijuana law but are still criminal under federal drug law.

The proposal was spurred by an Aug. 5 ethics opinion saying that in light of federal law, Ohio lawyers can’t help clients set up businesses or do deals under the new medical marijuana law. See 32 Law. Man. Prof. Conduct 507.
