The slowing of business that has recently been felt at the 700-lawyer Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan is “a litigator’s life,” the firm’s leader John Quinn told Big Law Business in an interview this week.
“When a jury returns a verdict on Friday, on Monday, you don’t have new matters to put the team on,” said Quinn in a phone call. “This is the way it always has been. The volume of work waxes and wanes.”
Of course, the downturn facing Quinn Emanuel hasn’t happened over the course of a weekend, nor has it been the product of a single verdict.
