Quote of the Day: Newegg Lawyer Explains How to Fight Patent Trolls

The online retailer Newegg has been one of the few companies that has refused to cave to what it viewed as abusive patent infringement lawsuits.

At a recent conference hosted by Ars Technica, Newegg’s chief legal officer Lee Cheng recounted why his company has fought rather than settled such lawsuits and some of the travails along the way:

”...the typical patent troll strategy is to say, ‘You know how much money it’s going to cost you to fight a case? Two to $6 million. We’re only asking for $3 million... give us the money and we’ll go away.’ I looked ...
