The Start of 2016 Brings Contraction to the Legal Sector

The number of jobs in the U.S. legal industry for the month of January fell by 1,400 compared to December, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The total number of people employed in the legal sector stood at 1,122,800 in January, down from the 1,124,200 people employed in December, the bureau said on Friday.

In addition, the bureau revised downward its estimate for the number of legal jobs in December. The figure of 1,124,200 people employed in December is down by 4,200 jobs from its initial estimate of 1,128,000 people.
