This Group Wants Law Firms to Slash One Expense: Their Toll on the Planet

Earth Day people take note: Introducing the “American Legal Industry Sustainability Standard,” or ALISS — a tool for law firms to measure how well they’re managing their energy output.

In the pilot stage for more than a year, ALISS is for real. In the next few weeks, a sleek website will be unveiled. Testimonials indulged. Forty law firms fired up and ready to go. We’re talking momentum here, people.

“We already have our press release drafted,” said Gayatri Joshi, executive director of the Law Firm Sustainability Network, a non-profit heading up the initiative.
