Wake Up Call: Johnson & Johnson Claims Star Plaintiffs Attorney Lied

• Johnson & Johnson is accusing Houston plaintiffs attorney W. Mark Lanier of misrepresenting facts about payments to experts witnesses in a hip implant trial in Dallas last year. J&J wants a $150 million damage award thrown out. The jury’s original $502 million verdict was reduced to comply with a cap under Texas law. ( SE Texas Record ) Lanier rejected the allegations, which appear in documents unsealed this week by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, which is hearing an appeal by Johnson & Johnson subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics Inc.
