Wake Up Call: Senate Confirms Clayton to Lead SEC

• The U.S. Senate confirmed Sullivan & Cromwell partner Jay Clayton to run the Securities and Exchange commission, President Donald Trump’s first major Wall Street regulator to get approved as the administration pushes to gut financial regulations. ( Bloomberg )

• Debevoise & Plimpton’s has added another top SEC enforcement lawyer to its Washington, D.C. office: Kara Novaco Brockmeyer, who led the agency’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Unit for the past five years, will join as a partner. Brockmeyer said she expects FCPA enforcement will continue under the new administration, and increasingly involves international cooperation. ( BLB )
