Which Big Law Legend Does Trump Most Closely Resemble?

It’s a raucous convention that lasts five days, but after six ballots the Republican Party finally nominates a dark horse presidential candidate with no experience in public service — whether political, judicial or military.

It’s not Donald Trump but it might sound like him.

The raucous convention took place in 1940, and the dark horse candidate was none other than the New York corporate lawyer Wendell Willkie of Willkie Farr & Gallagher fame.

Although much differentiates the two candidates, Willkie is being called Trump’s closest forerunner because of his outsider status within the Republican Party and his lack of public service experience.
