Who Is Al Jazeera America’s Embattled GC?

David Harleston, the top attorney at Al Jazeera America, may not be an attorney at all, according to a New York Times story published on Sunday.

Records indicate Harleston did pass the bar in 1986, but never completed the bar admission process.

After news broke that Harleston, the company’s Executive Vice President for Business and Legal Affairs and General Counsel, wasn’t to be found anywhere on the New York State Bar’s list of admitted lawyers, Al Jazeera America (AJAM) suspended Harleston and hired Skadden Arps to conduct an investigation into the matter.
